a simplified version of the training program i follow is get a heart rate monitor find out ur max heart rate and on tuesday thursdays your short runs do it at 70-75 percent of ya max heart rate and on saterday ya long run do it at 60-65 percent, on mondays wednesdays do a full body work out at the gym and also find time to fit cross training in like swimming, surfing bike riding.

Get lots of long runs and hill work in before the event. Also some night runs are helpful. TNF100 is a great event.

Try the Comrades web site, they have 3 training plans on there for their event.

Just wanted to reiterate what Ian says about trainig with the pack. I do all my training with my pack on and with all the kit in it. You may as well get used to it now.
I ran past a guy last year about 10kms in who was in agony as it was the first time he'd ran with a pack!!
Other than that, don't get too obsessed with clocking up Kms, a good bit of hill work and cross training will serve you well. I do a load of core and hip strength training which really helps on those hills as well as maintaining form when your really tired (which will happen I guarantee it!)
See you out there...

Yes, train with pack from early on. Also run when your legs are really tried. Try a run in the morning a leg workout in the arvo like heavy squats front, back, overhead squat then run just before bed. It works you won't like doing it.
But I can imagine there will be times running in TNF100 you won't like or feel any good.
Just my two bobs on the subject.
