hows everyone going?
good run today. i did the first 8k of leg 1 today then crossed to leg 4 at leura forrest and ran to the finish... found that i had similar hiccups to those already mentioned - specifically that i missed the turn off at the cross over point (eventually found thanks to tom's detailed description on ), and that the liian's bridge at 98k is still out (simple detour up west st to the hwy, then down scott, gladstone, etc to fairmont). and yes, the hill at 80k is as brutal as it looks on the course profile. also, passed some of the stragglers from the wildendurance run this wkend... although the course isnt entirely the same as ours it was good to know that the markings on the concurrent segments were super clear and easy to follow. well done to the organisers.
anyhoo first time posting, so just wanted to say hi.
how are last minute preps going?

Did the same as you yesterday Daniel and agree with your assessment of the 80k hill...
With Lillian's bridge though, it has actually been completed - although the track says closed at the top, if you take the route, then you'll find a brand new bridge over Lillian's Glen - I just follwed the pink markers from the Wild Endurance walk.
For anyone worried about getting lost, don't worry - there's that many pink markers out there, you would think the event is sponsored by Breast Cancer Awareness rather than The North Face! The markers are magnificent, and I don't think there's too much chance of getting lost...
2 weeks of tapering for me now - it's a bloody achievement just to make it to the start line of this race!!!

Thanks guys. Glad you like the course markings. We actually had 2km of markers pinched from between Wentworth Falls and Lilians Bridge. They took every single marker. They were put out on Thursday last week and they were gone by Sat morning. It is really disappointing that this happens, especially when we have lots of trail head notices regarding the events and explaining the course markings. Our course forerunner at WildEndurance (thanks very much Bryan) replaced all the flagging in time for the first teams. So for The North Face 100 we are not putting up the course markers along the 15km of cliff top tracks until the Friday afternoon. We will again have people forerunning and fixing the walking track sections of course around Katoomba, Leura and Wentworth Falls. These forerunners will go over the tracks in the 2 hours before the first runners arrive. These tracks will be checked again just prior to the first runner. Cheers, Tom

Tom, if we're running through the bush and see someone removing the ribbons, do you condone the use of capital punishment? Or should we just use the ribbons to bind and gag them? ;-)
