Hey all

I was just thinking about the extra gear that the crew should carry if the weather turns nasty.

If I don't  end up having a crew and I put the extra gear we are suppose to have in a drop bag  @ Checkpoint 5, but organisers suggest we use or require the gear @ checkpoint 3, I could be a little stuck or am I just getting a little anal and naive with the 3 week out jitters

I'm sure there is an easy solution.

Cheers and beers Sime

Hi Simon,

Good question.  Thanks for asking it.  This info into the runners briefing which will be up tomorrow afternoon but seeing as you asked, this is what will happen;

We will tell you at registration what should be done with your extra mandatory gear.  If weather conditions are fine you will just leave this gear in your drop bag for CP4 at Katoomba Oval.  When you get to CP4 in the race we will tell you if you need to carry this extra gear or not.  You will only carry this gear if conditions are bad; raining, windy and cold.  If conditions are going to be really bad for the start we may make you carry these items from the start but we will let you know at rego.  We may also tell you that we are leaving the final decision until early on the Saturday morning in which case there will be signs up at the rego area within the Fairmont and at the drop bag trucks beside the start line.  Event staff will also be notifying runners.  All being good your extra gear will go in the CP4 drop bag or with your support crew if you have one.
Cheers,
Tom
