I live up in the Hunter Valley so getting down to the Blue Mtns every weekend for training isn't always going to be a possibility.
So if anyone is organising or doing any training runs over the coming months, please let me know, as I'd love some extra motivation and encouragement to get out there and train on the course, not to mention some company to share the pain with!
Cheers Jill

Jill, I live in Newcastle (Redhead) and am doing the event for the first time this year. Have recently met some fantastic people, (Jaci, Dean, Guy, Trevor to name but a few) who live in Nelson Bay. We ran for the first time last weekend sections of the course including the Narrowneck night run which was a great experience. Hi Jill .. I'm the 'Jaci' that Ron is referring to. Where in the HV do you live? .. I'm sure we can put our heads together and get some runs organised. We have some awesome trails here in the Bay, but we're also keen to go for a trot around the Glenrock area; Newcastle end of GNW trails; and Medowie area .. just on the other side of the Pacific Hwy. Find us on FB as Ron suggested, or just message here and we can link up ) cheers, Jaci.

Hey there Ron and jaci, Thanks for your posts. I did think they'd have have to be some other like minded bods up in this part of the world doing this as well.
I too did Narrowneck the other weekend - how good was that! Nothing like a bit of rain and fog to add to the challenge.......
I'm in Broke, just down from Pokolbin and about 20mins from Singleton. I'm actually doing the NF as a relay event this year with my husband, as am off to Comrades 2 weeks later, so didn't think it a good idea to do the whole 100k this year, but definitely will do it next year.
Would love to get together for some long runs in any of those places you mention Jaci. I've got into 6ft so will be doing that but speaking with people from Narrowneck they really recommend getting out on the course to train.
As I'm doing the back half (CP3-finish) I think some serious hill work is the go.
Will check out the FB site you've reference and thanks for that. Hope we can catch up sometime

Hi Guys, I live in Kahibah near Charlestown and I'm interested in doing a long run 40 -50km in April on the course. Does anyone for Newcastle or the hunter have plan to do a trial run on the course in April? Cheers Marty

Hi Jill .. hate to say it .. but you should have joined us on the Friday run we had before Narrowneck .. we did the last 2 legs of TNF !! .. oh well, I'm sure if you get up to the Blue Mtns sometime you will be able to get those runs done easily. Doing the 6' track will give you a peak at the Nellies Glen stairs from the other direction!! Count them as you go down and then you'll know what you're in for when you climb out at TNF!! Broke is a beautiful place to live .. do you have any good trail runs that you do out that way? We would happily come up your way sometime too for a run .. maybe when the weather is a bit cooler though! cheers, Jaci.

Hi Jaci, Yes, I only saw the Friday run before Narrowneck after the event - would have loved to have done that if I'd known.
Having done 6ft before, I am aware of the stair climb out of Nellies Glen, so yes, a bit of a climb out to look forward to in TNF - and with the added joy of a backpack too!!
There are some fire trails around us in the Brokenback ranges - I might speak with a friend of mine who has access from the back of his property up them and might look to do a run around those after 6ft perhaps, so will let you know. Would welcome the company to run with - training on your own is kind of boring : -)
Hope everyone's training is going well - loved running in the rain during the week but didn't enjoy my long run yesterday in the heat!
Cheers Jill
