Training schedule
«
on:

Hi,
With just over 5 months to go, I'd be very grateful for any advice on a good training schedule for the North Face. I'm running in 6 foot track in March and a few other marathons before May next year. I'm also planning on doing a few night runs (half marathon length).
Any additional advice would be great.
Cheers,
Byron

If at all possible, run the course!
Best training I did for last year was re-con runs on different sections of the course. Especially the last two legs - having a bit of knowledge of kedumba pass and the final section (more technical than you realise) will be great. Particularly if you think you'll be going through those sections in the dark.
Cheers

Thanks for your reply Chris,
I am familiar with the Kedumba Valley - did the half down there last month so it gave me a good idea of what to expect during the NF100. I'm doing the night run with Running Wild Jan 14 but I definitely do a handful of runs around the course over the next few months.
Cheers

Hi Byron,
What time are you hoping to acheive? I think this would help shape a training schedule.
On my blog I have a few posts regarding the race last year so feel free to take from that what you like.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for your note. Sub-20 hours as it's my first attempt at this. Right now, I am focusing on getting to the start line.
Thanks for providing a link to your blog, much appreciated.
Cheers

there's a basic training schedule here
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Unofficial-North-Face-100-Training/315837878435094
suitable for people targeting 16-20 hours depending on lots of factors. There's currently 2 versions for download. V2 closer to 20 hours, and V3 closer to 16 hours. Please join up and contribute!
After Six Foot Track, all of the non 'event' runs are free, so if you're in Sydney, come and join us!
