Hi
Could anyone out there tell me what, roughly, is the weight of all the gear (mandatory and other)? The rest of the weight in the pack is up to me as I am starting to increase the weight of my pack but don't want to carry half my household goods if I don't have too Smiley
Thanks and safe training.

Geoff

All up its probably close to 4 & a half Kgs

From memory Last year I had my pack at about 3.6kgs , the fluid alone is about 2 kgs. Im sure its possible to get the weight down further than I did if you carry the bear minimum

My advice is be really economical with what you carry, i.e. nothing but mandatory gear and a small amount of your own personal nutrition

You may decide to carry more weight during training so on the day your strong and lite on foot!!

hey,

I have access to all the best gear. I got the best and lightest available and then stripped the grams of it. with fluid and food portions 6kg.
the weight to be saved is in the pack itself.

Good point about the weight of the pack itself Sam.

My gear alone (also good quality and light-weight) weighs 1.5kg exactly, that's including the 100wt polar fleece top.  With 2 litres of water plus pack (Salomon XA20 - 420g) I'm hoping to come in around 4.5kg in total ... currently training with about 3kg each run.

cheers,
Jaci.

Gday

well i was out with everything yesterday , plus extras including a can of coke , and it was 5.5kg . Thats with 2.5 liters and a 10 liter raid light pack
Just remeber when you start  you need to carry anything you need during the day, your first drop back will not be till half way through the race .

cheers
