Hello, just wondering if there are any/many people from Perth (or nearby) entering in the 2011 North Face 100?

I stumbled across the TNF100 whilst surfing the net for something completely different, but it caught my eye and after reading the article I was ready to sign up for the 2011 race......the 2010 was also run on my birthday which I thought would be a pretty cool and memorable way to celebrate your birthday! Hi Regan

We're from NSW, but are coming to Perth for xmas, and going to do a 46km event in prep for TNF100.  Just thought you may be interested  http://www.6inchtrailmarathon.com/history.html  ... might be able to convince some of those guys?!

cheers Smiley

yep, doing it for the second time....begining training in earnest in Jan...resting up mostly for now

theres a good group I trained with  last year in the Perth hills every Saturday....the trail in Perth (mudaring etc) is no real prep for TNF terrain wise or elevation wise but good bunch of long distance types run so the company is always good...let me know if you want contact details of the informal organisers

Hi there,

I am entered and will be competing in not only my 1st NF100, but also my 1st Ultra... actually my 1st marathon! My younger brother (in NSW) entered last year and has inspired me to get training and give it a go. I am into my 5th week of a 24 week program and so far am really enjoying getting out there and running. After years of playing footy and other contact sports, it's actually nice to just run... not saying that there isn't still some soreness that comes with the longer runs! Smiley To date i have run an 18k, a 22k and a 27k, along with my weekday runs and am averaging 45-60kms a week at the moment. Majority at this point in the program, are all flat road runs, but my intention is to build a base over the first 10 weeks, and then start strengthening with more hill and trail runs and then of course maintenance & taper before the big day.
I would really love to meet other around town who are setting themselves for the NF100 and join in on some training runs. Certainly does getting lonely pounding the pavement by yourself... thank goodness for my Ipod Smiley Please feel free to contact me if anyone needs a training buddy!

Cheers,

Dan

Regan .. and other Perth competitors .. did any of you end up doing the Munda Biddi 46km trail run?
http://6inchtrailmarathon.com/
I finished it and was really happy to have completed my first ultra-marathon.  For those who haven't done this run before, it is really a lovely undulating trail through the bushland south-east of Perth.  A very enjoyable run, extremely well organised, plenty of excellent food and beverages and supplements supplied free along the way, and prizes for all at the end.

Hats off to the organisers ... clearly, a run organised by runners Smiley   ... and I would highly recommend to all.

Jaci.....no such luck getting to the Munda Biddi run, had a Christmas work function the night before and U2 concert that night....excuses excuses I know! Smiley
From what I have seen of it from the web it certainly looked well organised, probably try and do it this year.
Hope training is going well. Smiley

Dan, you're way ahead of me as far as training goes so I'd only slow u down I think, however.....it would be good to meet people from WA doing the 100, if either of you or anyone else for that matter would like to meet someplace and talk about training, gear and other plans and just generally put a face to a name contact me at rwsmallridge@gmail.com. Hi Guys,
I am training for the TNF 100 this year.i completed it last year in 16 hrs and I am aiming for 14 hours this year.Im keen to train in the hills on the weekends.I know two other guys who have entered aswell they may be keen.I would recommend doing as many hills and steps as possible to prepare for nellys Gap and the final climb from 82 -89km ,I under estimated the climbs last year.So extra strentgh training for this type of terrain is required i believe.I just got back from an 82km run over cradle mountain tassie and this run re enforced this.
Anyway enough talking ...if anyones interested contact me on iandunican@hotmail.com or 0409680867.
