What a race... Second attempt and first finish (89km last year ;-( ) not as planned timewise but finishing it was more important that time. I needed to go over that mental block @ 89km. Needless to say i was surprised to find out that the last 11km are harder that the first 89km...

Thank you to the SES and all volunteers, an excellent job in assisting and supporting. Particular thanks to the SES guys @ 84km - at the bottom of "that hill" - for letting me have a sleep in front of the fire and allowing me to regroup and push for the "last 16km".

Awesome event, perfect location, fantastic people - what more would you ask for.
Can't wait for next year!

Yes Steph ,those guys done a great job down there although when I asked them distance travelled they told me 87 km to which I shouted "YES" ...on reflection maybe I heard what i wanted to hear or i was going mad from lack of sugar ....those 2 km turned out to be 5km....what a great hill to do more !!!!!!!
PS I have refrained from swearing about that hill

Ian, you were not hearing things, the same happened to me, that was really hard to cope with...when I saw the 85kms mark, I nearly took it off, as I thought someone had misplaced it there, after I was told I was on km 86...

May be the same 'scallywags' as last year.
It fairdinkum broke my heart when I finally saw the 85km marker thinking I should already be able to smell the coffee. So this year when he blurted the same ,I knew. Not happy but at least I knew.

I finished in 21hours so not sure what time that meant I saw these guys but they told me "6 to go".  Which I took to mean 6km to the CP, so about the 83km mark and that seems about right.  Maybe because I looked buggered they told me the truth.

 Smiley

Hi Everyone,
Just sitting here at work reflecting on the gruelling Northface100!! What an event, what a weekend and what an amazing feeling to finish!
At times it was just so hard, despite all the training. Hills, hills and more hills, let alone stairs and rocks. But awesome.
I really want to thank all the helped make this event so great, especially Tom and his crew. Especially also to the gang at checkpoint 4. All that encouragement to keep going on and telling me that there were no more stairs or hills!! Also to Craig, Ross and Charlie. We banded together and we made it. Thanks guys.
Next year...........
Thanks again heaps.
Leanne.
