HI Any , Ana, and everybody else who is helping out there!
Yesterday I did my longest run, 5hrs 45mins, 42km. It was a completely varied run, lots of extremely steep loose rocky hills, single technical trails, plenty of fire trail, beach rocks over Big & Little Marley Beach, road - you name it I think we covered it! Was shattered afterwards and in bed by 8am after doing the dinner shift with the kids. Have pulled up amazingly well today and had a 5.30am beach session for 1.5hrs and my legs felt pretty good considering how tired I was yesterday. So 3 classes later and two hours of painting this arvo and I am still walking - unbelivable! Have had a good massage today though which will hopefully delay or get rid of any DOMS thatmay hit tomorrow when I wake for Run Club!
Ana, we have done our last 6 long run runs with a backpack that weighs about 4.5-5kg, (I am 55kgs) yesterday was the heaviest that I have had it with 3ltrs of water, food and two Gatorades, and it felt fine, am also trying to use it at work when I am in the sandhills and out on road runs so that I won't know it is there in May - I hope!
The next few weeks we might back off our runs and tone them down to 3 hours again and do another long 6-7 hour run on the 6th March, and then the plan is to do an 8 or so hour about 4 weeks later. We thought we would keep the rest of the runs to 3-4 hours - what do you think?
THanks again for your assistance, I am trying to think too hard about it and just enjoy the journey!
