14 - 16 hour runners

If anyone who has run the Face off this thing in 14 - 16 hours would be so inclined, I'd love to hear how you did it.
Training and Race tips would be very interesting. I'm not running in 2010 but am training in hills and long kms etc already for 2011.
Any advice on how to achieve 14 - 16 would be greatly appreciated.
cheers

Well...first of all you have plenty of time if you are not racing until 2011. Have plenty of advice to give you...but it depends on your endurance background.

Background is so far 4 marathons PB 3.29,
Future is:
doing a 55 in April on roads, looking to break 5 hours,
then a marathon in May aiming for sub - 3.20 (reasonably confident)
then months of big kms training, several runs 45 - 60kms planned - regular runs in the hills
August 80km on roads - aiming for 7.5 hours
October - Melbourne Marathon - then after that nothing planned other than long kms and many hours in the hills until TNF 2011
Thats the flexible plan - any advice would be appreciated
cheers

Sounds as though you have a good plan that will help you gain some off road and long on-road miles. With the right head space...and the ability to keep moving you will
easily
run 14-16hrs.
You are planning on and will do plenty of running and it is k's in your legs that you need. Watch your mileage and don't over do it! I have found and many will agree the key is back to back long runs on weekend. Most good training programs subscribe this.

Hiya
I am shocked that the race has sold out just I would be keen for a transfer of entry as this was going to be my first 100 K race and what a good one to do if I get an entry....
Cheers Kieron ...
