Easy, don"t listen to them..... If that does'nt work just focus on an object etc that you are approaching and think about getting to it, then repeat the process. The little voices tend to get distracted and leave you alone...

hi Steph
I was given a book by a person who has completed comrades 5 times and she recommended it.Although I have never read it.Its called "Brain training for runners" Matt Fitzgerald(2007) new american library publishers.
Personally i like a good itunes mix or I download podcasts from websites to listen to on the way.
On longer runs I also promise myself a threat when I get home like chocolate or beer(Works well for me).Remember the body is able to accomplish amazing things,be positive and focus on the finish. For this I find Stephen Covey 7 habits of highly effective people a great book.I have read it 4 times and continually refer to it for work and training.
If that does nt get rid of the voices then its of to the doctor im afraid(ha ha)
Good Luck

I'll look into that book, too, Brain training for runners. Sounds interesting.
Thanks for the tip.

Hi Steph
Everyone has a voice in their head. Consider for a moment that the voice in your head is not you.
Now consider that the voice wants to undermine all the amazing and wonderful things that you can do.
Now cosider these negative thoughts coming out of the mouth of another human body whom you know is trying to manipoulate you.
If you knew these first three things what would you say - be polite. I am sure you would tell them to go away, or being positive say - yes I can keep running, or I am feeling quite good at the moment.
Armed with this information, whenever the voice inside your head says something to you you can reply and do something completely different to what it is telling you - because the voice is not you, it is just a voice.
I hope this helps, it has certainly helped me.
Cheers
PG
