Alina, thanks for the responses in the other threads.
Looking for an answer to this question so that I can train with the same gels we will be using on the day.
Thanks
Andrew

Has anyone received an answer to this yet? I have had issues in the past with supplied and untested (yes - stupid in hindsight) drinks and gels and I would like to train over the next few weeks with the product / brand to be provided.

andrew and liz from the sponsors it looks like either endura gels or carbo shotz gels, from experience they are quite similar, both light and easy to digest. so don't think you should have any issues with trying any of them.and looks like endura for drinks.

The sponsors providing food and drink for the event are: Endura drink, Carboshotz gels, Ducks Nuts, Nice & Natural Cereal Bars, Bounce Balls. We will also be providing fruit and fruit buns. All this food will be split amongst the various checkpoints. So as a rough guide the following will be provided at each checkpoint: CP1 - fuit and lollies (eg jellybeans) CP2 - Nice & Natural cereal bar, Carboshotz gels CP3 - Fruit buns & Bounce Balls CP4 - Carboshotz gels CP5 - Fruit buns & Ducks Nuts packs Endura drink and water will be at all CPs.

Hi guys, only donated food at checkpoints? I'd have thought given how seemingly overly sensitive the organisers are to safety that there would be some kind of hot food, soup or at least hot water available at the night checkpoints - no thermal undies in the world are going to warm someone up if their core temp starts to drop! THE best defense against hypothermia is a gullet full of warm tucker. This is not easy to achieve for unsupported runners.
A pot of vegie soup at Old Ford Reserve and a hot drink at Queen Vic would just about meet everyones needs

I would add my support to the idea of having some 'real' hot food at checkpoints. It is great all the sponsors coming on board but to be fair these are the kinds of foods we will be carrying anyway!
My vote would be to have boiling water available at checkpoints where drop bags are permitted. Then competitors can make a quick cuppa/pot noodle without wasting too much time! This would really help those with no crew.

I would also echo the sentiments regarding some hot water. Hot tea/coffee/noodles etc would be great in the cold hours of the night

Add my vote to the YAY'S for boiling water on tap for night time - if the only point we are going to meet our own suport crew is the half way point, organiser provided hot water in the night sections / check points is a must

Do we need to bring our own chill pills I will check the gear list thursday, get anything extra on friday , mandatory gear isn't a problem as long as you don't base it on a % of body weight. See you there guys and girls Regards SleepMonster http://www.sleepmonsters.com.au

Why not Checkpoint 4? This would be closest to dinner time for most people say 4-7PM Saturday night and if you do not have crew not having some thing hot is a bit of a pain? Kevin

Kevin, I understand the race committee has been given very limited permissions at Echo Point, so they are trying to minimise the size of the CP4 to ensure the authorities are happy and thus allow use of it Echo Point in future years.
